WIAWSO DIOCESE: ST. TERESA’S SOCIETY HOLDS QUARTERLY EXECUTIVES MEETING

Executive members of the Society of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus in the Wiawso Diocese on Saturday, September 12, 2020 held their quarterly meeting. This was the second of such quarterly meetings after that of the second quarter was called off due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Addressing the members present, Reverend Father George Obeng, Diocesan Chaplain of the Society urged them to “refrain from the habit of seeking help from fetish shrines and so called prophets and men of God.”

He then encouraged them to rather “be content with the Mass, Rosary and other forms of devotional prayers.” Father Obeng added that God through His Church is able to provide whatever help they wanted, be it help for their marriages, children, jobs, or for protection or opportunities.

Among the things discussed during the meeting was the drawing of a plan for a diocesan welfare program for members of the Society. A Committee which drafted a report for the welfare program reviewed at the meeting was further tasked to redraft the plan taking into consideration the various suggestions that had been made.

Also discussed was the Society’s 2020 Diocesan Congress. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was agreed that the various branches should celebrate the feast of the patron saint at the branch level instead of the usual Diocesan level celebration.

The meeting held at the St. Peter’s Parish, Asawinso was attended by 82 executive members from the various branches of the Society within the Diocese.
