“TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN LIVES” FR. ATTAKRUH URGES CATHOLIC YOUTH
Very Reverend Father John Baptist Attakruh, the Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi has urged the youth to learn to “take responsibility for their own lives” and eschew the habit of blaming others for any ill that may befall them.
He noted how people are quick to attribute praise to themselves and tend to point fingers to others when bad things happen. “When we do something good and praiseworthy, we are ready to take credit for it but when we do something bad and we are to bear the consequences, we tend to blame others,” he said.
“Don’t blame others – your parents, teachers, priests, and church leaders.” He remarked and added that “Your life is yours. It is God’s gift to you. He has given you the talents and gifts you have. Take hold of it and strive to make the best out of it.”
The Apostolic Administrator made these remarks in his homily when he visited the St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Air Force Base, Takoradi on Sunday, September 27, 2020.
Father Attakruh who once served as a Priest in Charge for the St. Ignatius Parish recounted some of the memorable moments of his time there. He encouraged the parishioners to continue to maintain the St. Ignatius Catholic Church as the vibrant community it has always been.
Squadron Leader Nsiah Boakye who represented the Base Commander congratulated Father Attakruh on his appointment as Apostolic Administrator. He also “prayed for strength and wisdom for him as he leads God’s people to salvation.”
The Mass was concelebrated by Reverend Father Gordon Mieziah.
