SEKONDI-TAKORADI DIOCESE: DEVELOPMENT OFFICE, ZEAL VERSALIS LAUNCHES SKILLS ACQUISITION PROJECT

 

The Development Office of the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi in collaboration with Versalis Zeal Ltd has launched a Skills Acquisition Project for young women in the Diocese. 90 young women are expected to benefit from the Project.

 

 

Addressing the beneficiaries at the opening ceremony held at the St. Mary’s Boys School, Apowa, Very Rev. Father John Baptist Attakruh, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese urged them to “eschew laziness and mediocrity in their training.” He further asked them to “be obedient to their superiors.”

According to the Diocesan Women and Development Coordinator, Madam Linda Barbara Aggrey, the beneficiaries of the project are young women between the ages of 14 and 25. Most of them are residents in rural communities within the diocese.

The 90 beneficiaries have been groups into three. The training for the three groups include dressmaking, hairdressing and interior decoration.

Chairperson for the occasion Obaapanyin Dame Theresa Arkhust in her remarks express gratitude to the trainers who have accepted to train the young women. She also appealed to the trainees to be committed to excellence as they learn the trade they’ll choose.

Versalis is a company that manages the production and marketing of petrochemical products whiles Zeal is a company that provides clients with systems and methods for the processing of industrial waste.
