SEKONDI-TAKORADI DIOCESE :  CHILD PROTECTION POLICY LAUNCHED

 

The Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi on Friday 11th December, 2020, launched its Child Protection Policy. The brief ceremony was held at the St. Kizito Pastoral Center after the annual Retreat for the Priests in the Diocese.

Very Rev. Fr. Charles Oppong, the Dean of Sekondi Deanery and the diocesan representative at the National Ecumenical and Inter-religious Dialogue Committee briefly exposed the policy to the priests present at the ceremony.

The policy covers the Diocese’s directives that protect minors and vulnerable adults who suffer abuses from clerics.

The Apostolic Administrator Very Rev Fr. John Baptist Attakruh, after the exposition launched the policy which now binds all Christ’s faithful in the diocese.

The Apostolic Administrator also informed the Clergy that together with the College of Consultors, they will soon name the Child Protection Officer for the Diocese as well us the Child Protection Committee.

The Child Protection Policy is a policy document of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference which binds all Catholics in Ghana.
