“GHANA NEEDS A NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN” -ARCHBISHOP PALMER-BUCKLE
The Most Reverend Gabriel C. Palmer-Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast. has called for the creation of a “national development plan to help accelerate the development agenda of the country.”
He made this call on Monday, November 17, 2020 during an interview on the “Point of View” program hosted by Bernard Avle on Citi TV.
Archbishop Palmer-Buckle appealed to government to “revisit the various recommendations made by the Prof. Fiadjoe Constitutional Review Commission, especially, on the need for a National Development Plan.”
Answering a question on whether the Church is considering taking over management of Mission Schools, the prelate who is also the Vice President of the GCBC responded that “the Church taking over will only be a postponement of the problem.”
He added that “a better way forward is to pursue an effective partnership between government and the various units such as the Churches, the Islamic Mission, the Armed Forces, etc.”
He further stressed the need for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between government and management of mission schools.
