FR. GEORGE ARTHUR PROMOTED TO DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

 


Very Reverend Father George Arthur, Parish Priest of St. George Catholic Church, Police Depot – Tesano and Director, Religious Affairs of the Ghana Police Service has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police by the President Akufo-Addo.

This was made known to the general public in a media release dated October 9, 2020 and signed by the Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police, Superintendent Sheila Kessie Abayie-Buckman.
Father Arthur is among twenty-three Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOP). Four Deputy Commissioners of Police were also promoted to the Commissioners of Police (COP).

Very Rev. Fr. George Arthur has been Director of the Religious Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service since August 1, 2016. He is also the first Catholic Priest to serve as Chaplain and Director of Religious Affairs to the Ghana Police Service.

He was ordained a priest for the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese on July 29, 1995 by Most Rev. Charles Kwaku Sam of blessed memory.
