BURKINA FASO: CLARETIAN MISSIONARIES (POLAND PROVINCE) IN COLLABORATION WITH GERMAN PROCURE OFFERS THREE BOREHOLES TO 3 VILLAGES OF KOUDOUGOU

The Claretian missionaries through their social unit have offered a borehole each to 3 villages in Burkina Faso. These villages namely Puedgo, Godin, and Signonem have a dry desert climate.

The annual rainy season is usually recorded from June to September each year. The rest of the year records no rainfall. Thus, making acute water shortage a problem the villagers have to contend with.

Rev.Fr Gaston Djiguimdé expressed his gratitude to the Claretians missionaries especially German Mission Procure for supporting these projects.

The Mission Procurator of Ivory Coast/ Burkina Faso, Rev. Fr Andrews also showed his appreciation to his provincial Piotr BEZA and Rev. Fr Piotr Baron, Procurator of the Province for the facilitation of these projects.

Residents of the three villages are mostly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. The unreliable nature of supply from the Nation’s Water Authority often leads them to resort to using water from ponds used to retain water. However, water from these ponds is generally unfit for human consumption.

Some are forced to travel several kilometers to reach nearby towns or villages with borehole facilities.

One of the key points of Claretian missions is to develop pastoral and social interventions aimed at promoting integral human development and alleviating the plight of the poor.

Thus, observing the plight of residents of these villages, they came to their aid to provide them with borehole facilities to solve their problem of lack of regular supper of clean water.

A lady who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the Claretians Missionaries especially German Procura for establishing these three boreholes. She also assured them of their commitment to making good use of the facilities.
