Bishop Attakruh with some of the candidates

The Most Reverend John Baptist Attakruh, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi has conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 118 candidates during his Pastoral visit to the St. Theresa’s Parish at Wasa Jappa.

Bishop Attakruh encouraged the candidates to “fan into flames the gifts of the Holy Spirit” in their lives by imitating Christ. “

He said, as Christians, we ought to imitate the example of Christ wherever we find ourselves. “Christ himself is calling you to become salt of the earth and light of the world by leading a good life in pursuit of righteousness, peace, and justice.”

Reflecting on the day’s reading,, Bishop Attakruh called on all Christians to“strive to lead lives that will make their “marriage and family lives bring glory to God.”

According to him “marriage is the basic unit of society. If we have fruitful and happy marriages, it will naturally translate to a fruitful and happy society.”

Bishop Attakruh  added that “the indissolubility of marriage is not just an arrangement by the Catholic Church. Marriage by its nature is a permanent union. Marriage is a divine arrangement and not just human preference.”

He reminded parents of their obligation to be good role models to their children. “Parents are the primary catechists of their wards.” He therefore bemoaned the lack of parental guidance some children suffer from and urged parents to desists from shirking their responsibilities as “teachers and mentors.”

The celebration also witnessed the installation of Rev. Fr. Felix Bempah as the Parish Priest of the Parish.
