To the Clergy,
Religious and
Christ’s Faithful

“Do not be afraid. Look, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2;10-11).

I bring to you greetings of peace and love!

The ‘Emmanuel Feast’ is here with us! It is that part of the year when our hearts overflow with sentiments of love, joy and peace which move us to express good wishes to one another.

May this Christmas remind us that Christ lives with us in the events of our lives as the ‘Emmanuel’ announced to Mary by the angel. He lives with us in the Sacraments of the Church, especially in the Eucharist. He lives with us in his Word that is proclaimed to us in every liturgical assembly. He lives with us in the praying community of believers, in the poor, the vulnerable and the marginalized of society. He lives in each believer, as the Holy Spirit residing in us, makes us ‘Temples’ where God dwells.

May this Christmas remind us that we are bearers of Christ with the missionary privilege and duty to bring him to those around us by loving them, building bridges and crossing barriers through sacrificial, humble and committed service to one another.

It is my special prayer and hope that each and every one this Christmas would open his/her heart to God’s immense gift of himself to us in his son, Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary.

It is my special prayer and hope that our homes, convents and rectories be filled with the love and peace of the new-born King.

It is my prayer and hope that this Christmas brings a deeper transformation in us as we strive to build our nation, Ghana, into a just society and our Christian communities into a Family of God.

May our sharing of Christ with one another be the best gift we give and receive this Christmas season. May God bless you and your families!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Very Rev. Fr. John Baptist Attakruh
Apostolic Administrator
Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi.
