PsychoHealth Consult, a Non-Governmental Agency has been launched to champion the sound mental health and psychological wellbeing of people, especially health workers in Catholic Hospitals across the length and breadth of Ghana.

The launch took place on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Elonyi in the Western Region.

Speaking at the launch, the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocesan Health Director and founder of Psychohealth Consult, Rev. Fr. Eric Kwasi Elliasion, mentioned that the mission of Psychohealth Consult is to “aid in the psychological development and formation of clients as a way of boosting their psychological and mental wellbeing, thereby helping them live happy and fulfilled lives.”

According to him, Psychohealth Consult was born out of the need “to push for the attention that mental health and psychological health deserves in this country.” He acknowledged the efforts of the Ghana Psychology Council and other psychological support organizations and emphasized the need for similar organizations “to make counselling and psychological support services available and accessible to the greater number of people who need it.”

Mr. Charles Morrison, who also spoke at the launch revealed that Psychohealth Consult was registered under the Company’s Act of Ghana and officially incorporated in March 2021.

He added that “the Consult believes that people will be more productive and fruitful if they have a sound mind. This stems from the utility connection between the body and mind. This is captured in our motto: “mens sana in corpore sano” (A Sound Mind in a Sound Body).”

As part of the launch, an announcement was made for the development of the Psychohealth Counselling and Relaxation Center at Elonyi. As part of the long-term agenda of the Consult, similar centers will be established in every region in the country.
